Perfectionism

Hello friends

Since this is a personal blog i give myself permission from time to time not to write a post but to share some content i found online that I think will be interesting. Here is one that I found to a be refreshing reminder of our tendency to be a perfectionists and why we should be weary it.

Some good Altucher Advice

So I have been following James Altucher for some years. You can sum up the advice he gives really under self improvement. I decided to post that summery in his own words from one of his news letters. I am posting it as a reminder to myself but it will definitely help everyone who reads this blog.

So here we go I hope you benefit from it. Read it immediately and apply the lessons

  1. Read a lot to find the things that fascinate you.
  2. Write down ideas every day.
  3. Develop a skill that makes money NOW (like computer programming). Develop more than one of these if you can.
  4. Develop skills for the future (like writing, communicating, speaking, entertaining).

Friends

Friends, take them seriously.

I am not one to advice people to go out and make friends with everyone. But in life your ability to identify a friend is absolutely necessary. The truth is that it will play a large role in your success.

So when you find a friend, a true friend that you can lean on and someone you can talk to when you need to talk to. Someone who knows how to keep your secrets and watch your back. Someone who tells you the truth regardless of the situation or the consequences, please cherish them.

Day 3, Inbox 0

Hello, you should try Inbox Zero, seriously you should.

Yesterday, was good, really good. I tacked my emails and was quickly overwhelmed by the number of mails to get through. But instead of backing down I went straight to work and decided to go for an even more ambitious goal, Inbox Zero. Its really lovely to get to your inbox and have no mails to look at. None at all. Not even mails that have been read.

One trick that helped was to archive all mails that have been read to ensure a clean inbox after reading and either filing or deleting my mails. Fun fact I got this idea from Medical Doctor and YouTuber Ali Abdaal.

So If deleting emails is preventing you from having inbox Zero Just Archive the important mails and have a clean inbox. the mental clarity this give you is amazing it instantly encourages an action oriented approach to dealing with emails.

I hope that little tip helped. See you in the next Post.

XOXO

Missed Opportunities

So here is the post I promised.

Well its all tied to your ability to stay focused and have a clear mind. I think I might have said this earlier in a blog posts but I am a bit of a fun of rocket launches. You know space kind of stuff. So I do my best to make time and watch any live launches. I know you might find it weird but personally I see it as really entertaining.

Well yesterday two things happened. SpaceX launched Starlink 15 and expedition 63 came back home. I am sorry if you are getting quite lost here but just take this to mean that something went up to space and another thing fell down from Space.

Well I was aware of the Starlink launch and was looking forward to it. But then it happened that just 2 hours to the event I got distracted. After many hours I realized my mistake. Now this is not a big deal but it just shows how having a cluttered mind can cost you. Its not just plain forgetfulness, its just a sign of an unfocused mind. It costs you more than you think even when its something important to you, you just end up missing all the opportunities right before you. There are more examples I can list most of them too personal to get into over here. Some of you might be thinking, well why didn’t you just setup an alarm. Well the answer is the same, an unfocused mind will not even get to the point where setting a reminder and an alarm is possible.

So this Extreme House keeping is really necessary and I will get it done. I hope you notice some of these patterns in your life and make an effort to go about your own Extreme House keeping.

See you in the next post.

Day 2 Pivot

Hello and welcome back.

I am writing this a little later than I would have wanted. You know that life gets in the way sometimes.

Now you know by this time that I am currently in the middle of what I call “Extreme Housekeeping”. To be honest its been a little bit more difficult than I expected. So yesterday i made a change to my strategy.

Now this change didn’t help me to complete the process in one day but it definitely ensured that I end this process before the beginning of next week.

So the simple strategy was to create folders for video downloads that I was going to watch on breaks and those that were documentaries for watching later and those I was ready to take action I watched immediately picked the knowledge from it and deleted it. Perfect! So I am happy to say that I have finished sorting all the video content I downloaded over the past couple of months and I now have a system of ensuring that they get consumed and removed immediately. Also I am not adding anymore until I am done with the current batch. This also give me the opportunity to decide if I should still continue watching a type of content on a topic or if I have enough information to delete the rest and discontinue.

Now the next area is my emails. I am going to sort those two using a similar system and file the rest away for content inspiration. Those newsletters where I feel I have derived enough value I would just go ahead and discontinue.

So I have a nicely packed day I ahead which started off with some house maintenance work so I am really happy. Its always good to add some comfort in your living space especially in times of Covid-19.

I might post something later on missed opportunities this evening. So I hope to get back to you soon.
